Moving through the forest silent,
As the wind, it blows around me,
Echoes of the voices silent, whispers of my kin.
Remnants of the lost race,
Birds’ tongue of the old age,
Lanterns on the branches above carvings so deep.
Shine of my sharp blade,
My bow and an arrowhead,
Green hood protects me from the rain so sweet.
Loyal mare awaits me,
On a journey long, I must leave;
Far away to go, never to return.
What I will remember;
Are the symbols from the long ago,
Carved in the barks of the trees.
No one will remember the meaning,
No one to understand the meaning,
Trees will be long gone and symbols all forgotten.
I’ll take a green leaf with me
And a small piece of a bark, to be
The remnants of my homeland; a beautiful world.
What is left, decay will eat,
But forest old, my soul will keep;
Like I’m already dead, in a grave so deep.
I hear the whispers and
Echoes all around me saying:
“Go and leave us, you must ride away.
Your destiny is somewhere else,
Happiness in something else,
Your life doesn’t belong with the dead.”
I leave the forest old and
Spirits in the trees so bold
Soul mine they gave to me to plant a new life.
What I will remember are
The carvings in the barks and
Lights of the lanterns on branches so high.
Farewell my ancestors,
Farewell, oh, the world old,
Voices of the spirits: “Farewell our son!”
Farewell my homeland,
Farewell, oh, the trees old,
Voices of the spirits: “Bravely, move on.”
