Moving through the forest silent, As the wind, it blows around me, Echoes of the voices silent, whispers of my kin. Remnants of the lost race, Birds’ tongue of the old age, Lanterns on the branches above carvings so deep. Shine of my sharp blade, My bow and an arrowhead, Green hood protects me from the rain so sweet. Loyal mare awaits me, On a journey long, I must leave; Far away to go, never to return. What I will remember; Are the symbols from the long ago, Carved in the barks of the trees. No one will remember the meaning, No one to understand the meaning, Trees will be long gone and symbols all forgotten. I’ll take a green leaf with me And a small piece of a bark, to be The remnants of my homeland; a beautiful world. What is left, decay will eat, But forest old, my soul will keep; Like I’m already dead, in a grave so deep. I hear the whispers and Echoes all around me saying: “Go and leave us, you must ride away. Your destiny is somewhere else, Happiness in something else, Your life doesn’t belong with the dead.” I leave the forest old and Spirits in the trees so bold Soul mine they gave to me to plant a new life. What I will remember are The carvings in the barks and Lights of the lanterns on branches so high. Farewell my ancestors, Farewell, oh, the world old, Voices of the spirits: “Farewell our son!” Farewell my homeland, Farewell, oh, the trees old, Voices of the spirits: “Bravely, move on.”

Beneath the forest canopy, Dissolving into darkness, The eternal circle, Of transformation profound. The epochs lost, Time beyond mind; A flash of a spark, Equilibrium of Gods. As the Sun dies, A primordial leaf falls; It was a tree before, And so again will be. Voice of the giant, A mesmerizing wind, Water, deep and cold. Birds sleep in quiet, Crawlers watch their steps, A leaf falls into a stream; A gentle, muffled splash. At the top of the mountain, A small crystal is formed; The white traveller; He knows the world old. A silent hum, No one is there, The clouds, cry. A vast world, A single soul; Like there is no day, And night doesn’t fall. Spring walks by, Summer with a wave, Old leaves fall, In coldness they decay. A stream flows on, Mountain stands tall, Green is the canopy, Of Forest forever old. A hole beneath, And a whole different world; Here, sleeps, a leaf. The mushroom king rose, White, and tall; Songs of the underworld, He sings above. To touch the sky, There he wants to go! How to be a tree, A leaf will let him know! “A tree swims in a stream, It sleeps beneath the tree, To become a leaf, A root it first must be.” And so the wall of stems, Smooth, rough; still stands; It’s depth – imperceptible; Of time – immemorial.

She walks through the blizzard She is my fire In cold winter nights Her pale fingers, my desire Breath of frost Teeth as shards of ice To your crystal halls Accept my passing soul Frozen branches, forever frozen I wish to lie in your lap Your cold embrace Frost in my bones Trembling, crystal death Awe for you, my lady No fear of cold Hold me, my Goddess I’m forever yours I kneel before you Kissing your white thighs I want to drown in your Fair locks Blue eyes of eternal winter I cannot endure their glaze Your cherry lips on my hand I follow your holy glare Take me to the dark It is the dusk of the winter goddess It is the time for the winter goddess When the sun falls, the queen she’ll be When chaos comes my body I’ll leave In that time, mortal flesh I will leave It is her time, join her, my winter Goddess Take me to the dark Take me to the dark Take me to the dark Take me to the dark Take me to the dark

about

Remnants of Our Myths, with its nostalgic title, is inspired by (European) mythology and traditional stories. Its structure is a circle, which "begins" with the birth of vegetation (a year) and it is flourishing until it reaches the pinnacle, after which it starts to grow old and dies. It also represents a (mythological) hero who goes on a journey, or a quest, which requires a lot of sacrifices from him to reach his goal and destiny. As the year grows stronger, he grows stronger; as the year grows wiser, he grows wiser as well. In the end he must face the unavoidable winter (i.e. death, seen as a romantic vision), which he accepts as a part (a phase) of the journey. His journey was also his life.
